Beaches (obviously)
Siesta Key, Lido Key, Venice, and Longboat Key are all free to walk onto. Pack your own chairs, cooler, and umbrella and the beach is the best free attraction in Florida. See the beach guide for which fits your day.
Bayfront Park & Marina Jack Trail
The downtown bayfront: a long waterfront walk with skyline views, dolphins if you're lucky, and the Unconditional Surrender statue for the classic photo. Free parking pockets exist — circle once before paying for a garage.
Sarasota Farmers Market
Every Saturday, 7am–1pm, downtown at Main St & Lemon Ave. Browsing is free, people-watching is excellent, and the samples are a legitimate snack strategy.
Stroll St. Armands Circle
Window shopping and gallery hopping on the Circle costs nothing — and the drive over the Ringling Causeway is half the attraction.
Sunset at the bay
Gillespie Park, Bayfront, or any west-facing beach. Sarasota sunsets over the Gulf are the free show that never gets old.
Sunday drum circle at Siesta Beach
A long-running local tradition: drummers and dancers gather near the main pavilion around sunset on Sundays. Free, joyful, very Siesta Key.

Walk Venice Beach and scan the shell line for fossilized shark teeth. No gear required to start — just patience and sharp eyes.
